Size Guide

How to measure

  1. Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, wearing the socks you will wear with the shoe.
  2. Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe — that is not always the big toe.
  3. Measure from the wall to the mark. Do both feet and use the longer one.
  4. Measure at the end of the day, when feet are at their largest.

Widths

Most of what we carry comes in more than one width. If the length is right but the shoe feels tight across the ball of your foot, go wider rather than longer — sizing up for width leaves the arch support in the wrong place.

These are standard US measurements. Fit still varies by brand and by style, and if you wear an orthotic you may need a half size more room. Between sizes, or feet that never seem to fit anything? Call (704) 846-0301 — fitting is what we do.

What it actually does for a sore foot

A recovery sandal isn't a supportive shoe and isn't trying to be. Its job is the hours after the shift, the run, or the long day on hard floors. What this one adds over the plain OOahh is a strap you can move.

37% more impact absorbed than traditional footwear, per OOFOS
The strap is the reason to buy this one

The strap is the reason to buy this one

Every other recovery sandal is a fixed opening. This one isn't. If your feet swell through the day, if you're coming off a shift, or if a plain slide has always been slightly too loose or slightly too tight, this is the only version you can actually set to your foot.

It also does more for a wide forefoot than a molded strap can, which matters because OOFOS doesn't make any of these in widths.

A tightened strap keeps the heel where it belongs

A tightened strap keeps the heel where it belongs

The footbed is walled and rounded at the back so the fat pad under your heel settles into the foam rather than on top of it. The catch with any backless sandal is that your heel slides forward off that cup as you walk. Snugging the strap is what stops it, which is a thing a fixed slide can't offer.

The strap holds you on, it doesn't hold you up

The strap holds you on, it doesn't hold you up

Worth being clear about, because an adjustable strap can read as support. It isn't. OOFOS says OOfoam absorbs 37% more impact than traditional footwear, and that cushioning is the whole product. The strap changes the fit, not the structure.

For after the shift, not during it

For after the shift, not during it

This isn't competing with your work shoe. It's what you change into when the shift or the run is over, so tissue that's been loaded for twelve hours doesn't then have to stand barefoot on a kitchen floor.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How it compares to the plain OOahh, sizing, orthotics, care, and how to reach us.

How is this different from the plain OOahh Slide?

One strap. Same 20 mm of OOfoam, same footbed, same cupped heel. The Sport Flex has an adjustable hook-and-loop strap instead of a fixed molded one, and weighs half an ounce more for the pair. It costs $20 more.

Worth it if your feet swell, if you're between the sizes, or if a plain slide has never sat right on you. Not worth it otherwise.

Will these work with my custom orthotics?

No, and we'd rather say so plainly. The strap adjusts but the footbed doesn't: it's molded into the body of the sandal with no insole to lift out, so there's nowhere for an orthotic to go. If you rely on orthotics, treat these as something to change into around the house and call us at (704) 846-0301 for a shoe that will actually take them.

Will these help my plantar fasciitis?

For a lot of people they help with the part of the day nobody thinks about: the first steps out of bed and the last hour at home. Deep cushioning with a cupped heel is much kinder to an irritated heel than a bare tile floor. What they won't do is support the arch through a working day, and they aren't a treatment. If your heel pain is new or getting worse, get it looked at.

What size should I order?

OOFOS builds one unisex sandal and labels it two ways, and the sizes on this page are US men's. If you wear a women's size, subtract 2, so a women's 9 is the men's 7 here. There are no half sizes, so if you're a half size go up and take the strap in.

That's the advantage of this model: a size up with the strap tightened fits better than a size down that pinches. If you're unsure, call (704) 846-0301.

I have wide feet. Will these fit?

Possibly, and better than the fixed-strap version would. OOFOS doesn't make any of these in widths, but an adjustable strap opens up across the forefoot in a way a molded one can't. If you normally need a 2E or wider, call us at (704) 846-0301 before you order and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth trying.

Can I wear these all day at work?

We wouldn't recommend it. Adjustable or not, it's still backless, so nothing holds your midfoot and your toes end up doing the work. Fine for an hour on the sofa, wrong for eight hours on a ward. If you need something to actually stand in all day, call us and we'll fit you properly.

What are the specs?

Height 20 mm. Weight 10.4 oz for the full pair. OOfoam footbed with OOFOS's patented footbed geometry, a rounded cupped heel, and an adjustable upper strap. Whole sizes only. Machine wash and air dry.

Every figure there is published by OOFOS for this style. They don't publish a heel-to-toe drop and don't describe the footbed as removable, so we don't list either. The color is OOFOS's Matte Black.

How do I take care of them?

Machine wash and air dry. Keep them out of the dryer and away from radiators, because heat is what breaks the foam down and the foam is the entire product. OOFOS warrants every pair against defects in material and workmanship for six months.

Can I try them on in store, or get advice by phone?

Yes to both, and this is a good one to try on, because the strap is the whole reason to buy it. We're at 924 Park Center Dr, Ste 101, Matthews, NC 28105, open Monday to Friday 10 to 6 and Saturday 10 to 4.

Call (704) 846-0301 and you reach our fitting team, not a call center.

Can I use FSA or HSA to pay?

Usually not for a recovery sandal on its own. Some plans reimburse therapeutic footwear when it's recommended for a diagnosed condition, which normally means a letter of medical necessity from your doctor. Call us before you buy and we'll tell you honestly where this pair is likely to fall.
