Paul's Note

"Get these for the evening and the morning, not for the shift. For a heel that's already angry, not ending the day barefoot on a tile floor is worth more than most people expect."

Finding Your Fit

Size

  • Order your usual US shoe size. Comfort styles run true to size.
  • Between sizes, or wearing thicker socks? Choose the half size up.

Width

  • Medium (D): the standard width.
  • Wide (2E): more room in the forefoot. Pick this if your toes feel squeezed in regular shoes.
  • X-Wide (4E): the most room. Best for swelling, braces, or thick diabetic socks.

Wearing custom orthotics?

Order your usual size. The extra depth and removable insole leave room for most orthotics.

Full pair. Light enough to live in a bag or by the back door.

Machine wash, air dry. Heat is what breaks the foam down, so skip the dryer.

What it actually does for a sore foot

A recovery sandal isn't a supportive shoe and isn't trying to be. Its job is the hours after the shift, the run, or the long day on hard floors, when tissue that's been loaded all day needs somewhere soft and shaped to sit.

37% more impact absorbed than traditional footwear, per OOFOS
For after the shift, not during it

For after the shift, not during it

Recovery footwear isn't competing with your work shoe. It's what you change into when the shift, the shop floor, or the run is over, so tissue that's been loaded for twelve hours doesn't then have to stand barefoot on a kitchen floor.

The heel sits down in the foam

The heel sits down in the foam

The footbed is walled and rounded at the back, so the fat pad under your heel settles into the foam instead of sitting on top of it. That matters most first thing in the morning and last thing at night, when heel tissue is at its most irritable.

Cushioning, not support

Cushioning, not support

OOFOS says OOfoam absorbs 37% more impact than traditional footwear, and describes the footbed as reducing stress on knees, ankles and other joints. That's cushioning, not structure. On a recovery sandal it's the right trade, but it is a trade.

Machine washable, no break-in

Machine washable, no break-in

One molded piece, 9.9 oz a pair. There's no break-in period and no liner to wear through. Wash them and air dry, but keep them out of the dryer, because heat is what breaks foam down.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Sizing, orthotics, care, the guarantee, and how to reach us.

Will these work with my custom orthotics?

No, and we'd rather say so plainly. This sandal is a single molded piece with no removable footbed and no extra depth, so there's nowhere for an orthotic to sit. If you rely on orthotics, treat these as something to change into around the house and call us at (704) 846-0301 for a shoe that will actually take them.

Will these help my plantar fasciitis?

For a lot of people they help with the part of the day nobody thinks about: the first steps out of bed and the last hour at home. Deep cushioning with a cupped heel is much kinder to an irritated heel than a bare tile floor. What they won't do is support the arch through a working day, and they aren't a treatment. If your heel pain is new or getting worse, get it looked at.

What size should I order?

The sizes here are US men's, and OOFOS builds one unisex sandal. If you wear a women's size, subtract 2, so a women's 9 is the men's 7 on this page. There are no half sizes and no widths, so if you're a half size or between sizes, go up. If your feet swell through the day, size for the evening rather than the morning.

Which of your three OOFOS styles should I get?

This one, unless something below applies. It's the cheapest and it suits the most feet.

Take the Sport Flex instead if your feet swell a lot, if you need a wider forefoot, or if a plain slide has never quite fit you: it has an adjustable strap and costs $20 more. Take the OOriginal thong if you want the lightest option and toe posts have never bothered you, but not if you have bunions or hammertoes.

Can I wear these all day at work?

We wouldn't recommend it. A backless slide leaves your midfoot unsecured, so your toes end up gripping to keep it on, and after several hours that creates its own problems. These are for after the shift. If you need something to actually stand in all day, call us and we'll fit you properly.

What are the specs?

Height 20 mm. Weight 9.9 oz for the full pair. OOfoam footbed with OOFOS's patented footbed geometry and a rounded, cupped heel. Whole sizes only, unisex build labeled in US men's. Machine wash and air dry.

Every figure there is published by OOFOS for this style. They don't publish a heel-to-toe drop for this model and don't describe the footbed as removable, so we don't list either.

How do I take care of them?

Machine wash and air dry. Keep them out of the dryer and away from radiators, because heat is what breaks the foam down and the foam is the entire product. OOFOS warrants every pair against defects in material and workmanship for six months.

What's included, and what if they don't help?

One pair of OOFOS recovery sandals, screened and stocked by our board-certified pedorthist. Free shipping on orders over $75, and most orders leave Matthews, NC within one business day.

You have 60 days. Wear them, walk in them, and if your feet aren't better off, send them back for a full refund with free return shipping.

Can I try them on in store, or get advice by phone?

Yes to both. We're at 924 Park Center Dr, Ste 101, Matthews, NC 28105, open Monday to Friday 10 to 6 and Saturday 10 to 4.

Call (704) 846-0301 and you reach our fitting team, not a call center. If you're not sure a recovery sandal is the right thing for your feet at all, we'd rather talk it through than sell you the wrong pair.

Can I use FSA or HSA to pay?

Usually not for a recovery sandal on its own. Some plans reimburse therapeutic footwear when it's recommended for a diagnosed condition, which normally means a letter of medical necessity from your doctor. Call us before you buy and we'll tell you honestly where this pair is likely to fall and what your plan would need.
