Shoe Modifications

At Comfort Footworks, our lab is located right in our Matthews, NC shop. Paul Henderson, our board-certified pedorthist, completes all shoe and orthotic modifications in-house — including modifications prescribed by your doctor for gait accommodations or other complications.

Shoe Modifications We Offer

Shoe Lifts

If you have a leg length discrepancy, a built-in shoe lift might be the answer. We work with many local doctors to assist with these modifications.

Toe Fillers

A great option after toe amputation. Typically prescribed to protect the foot by preventing excessive sliding and rubbing in the shoe — especially beneficial for diabetics.

Rocker Soles

Limited joint motion can make the natural bend in a shoe painful. A rocker sole restricts that bend, offloading pressure from the painful parts of your feet.

Wedges and Flares

Added to the sole of your shoe to promote controlled motion and offload pressure to specific parts of your foot. Often prescribed by a doctor.

Shoe Resoling

Custom and orthopedic shoes are an investment. We can extend their life by resoling them, when they're still in good shape — our on-site pedorthist can tell you.

Custom Shoes & Modifications

We offer custom made shoes and boots. Our pedorthist can measure and create molds to construct custom footwear when off-the-shelf shoes won't work for you.
