Foot Conditions & Diabetic Footcare

Foot pain is not something you have to live with. Below are the conditions we see most often at Comfort Footworks — and how properly fitted shoes and orthotics can help. For each condition, our board-certified pedorthist has selected footwear and orthotics that actually address the problem.

Common Foot Conditions

Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Pain

Sharp heel pain, especially with the first steps in the morning, is often plantar fasciitis — an overstretching of the fibrous tissue under your foot. Arch support, cushioned shoes, and stretching help. Shop our plantar fasciitis collection and heel pain collection, or read our guide to the best shoes for plantar fasciitis.

Bunions

A bony protrusion at the big toe joint, aggravated by friction from improperly shaped footwear. Wide toe boxes, stretchable uppers, and arch support keep pressure off the joint. Shop bunion-friendly shoes.

Flat Feet & Overpronation

Low or fallen arches let the foot roll inward with each step, straining feet, knees, and back. Motion-control shoes and posted orthotics keep your stride steady. Shop flat feet and overpronation collections.

High Arches

High-arched, supinating feet need extra shock absorption to reduce pressure on the heel and ball of the foot. Shop the high arches collection.

Hammertoes, Corns & Calluses

Often caused by shoes that are too small or narrow in the toe box. Properly sized shoes with roomy toe boxes and arch support redistribute pressure and prevent friction.

Neuropathy

Neuropathy can cause numbness, tingling, or insensitivity to pain, heat, and cold — which means injuries can go unnoticed. A proper shoe fitting is essential, since you might not feel when shoes are too small.

Metatarsalgia & Morton's Neuroma

Pain in the ball of the foot from misplaced pressure. Lower heels, roomy toe boxes, and orthotics with metatarsal pads redistribute weight for relief. Shop orthotics with metatarsal support.

Leg Length Discrepancy

One leg slightly longer than the other, whether from birth, a fracture, or a hip replacement, can show up as one-sided hip or back pain. When a doctor prescribes a shoe lift, we build it into the shoe in our own lab. See shoe lifts and shoe modifications.

Diabetic Footcare

Diabetes disrupts the vascular system and can affect your legs and feet. Diabetic neuropathy can cause insensitivity, so minor cuts, blisters, or pressure sores can go unnoticed — and complications can result if left untreated.

Properly fitting footwear can prevent foot problems and avoid complications. At Comfort Footworks you'll find a wide selection of footwear ideal for diabetics: wide mid-foot styles, stretchable and moldable uppers, additional depth to accommodate custom orthotics, and wide easy-on openings that reduce pressure points. We carry Brooks, Aetrex, Apex, Dunham, Drew, InStride, New Balance, Naot, Orthofeet, and Xelero.
