Size Guide

How to measure

  1. Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, wearing the socks you will wear with the shoe.
  2. Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe. That is not always the big toe.
  3. Measure from the wall to the mark. Do both feet and use the longer one.
  4. Measure at the end of the day, when feet are at their largest.

Widths

Most of what we carry comes in more than one width. If the length is right but the shoe feels tight across the ball of your foot, go wider rather than longer. Sizing up for width leaves the arch support in the wrong place.

Paul's take on the Saturn

Orthofeet Saturn, a men's closed-toe sandal in stretch knit and leather with Orthofeet's hands-free heel. Step on the heel, it gives, then springs back around the foot. Two bungee cords per foot set the fit once. It is a summer shoe for a foot that needs a covered toe and a real sole, which rules out most sandals.

Rubber outsole, Ortho-Cushion sole with a mild rocker, removable orthotic insole, extra-depth last. Takes a custom orthotic, and the closed toe keeps it from sliding forward the way it does in an open sandal.

Medium, Wide or X-Wide? The knit panels stretch, so Medium (D) suits most men whose regular shoes fit across the ball of the foot. Wide (2E) if you size up for room or have a bunion. X-Wide (4E) for a bulky orthotic or feet that swell in the heat. Call (704) 846-0301 if unsure.

Stocked in Navy, sizes 7 to 14 in half sizes to 12. Screened and stocked by Paul Henderson, C.Ped, at our Matthews, NC store. Venus is the women's version. Unsure on width? My width guide covers it in a few minutes.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Which width should I order?

Medium (D for men, B for women) if your usual shoes feel fine across the ball of your foot. Wide (2E for men, D for women) if they pinch there or you have a bunion. X-Wide (4E for men, 2E for women) for swelling, an orthotic, or when wide shoes still pinch. Still unsure? Call Paul at (704) 846-0301 and he'll size you by phone.

Will my custom orthotic fit?

Most Orthofeet shoes take one, but sandals and slippers vary. Call us at (704) 846-0301 and we'll check this style before you order.

How does the hands-free heel work?

Tie the laces once to the fit you like. After that, step down onto the back of the shoe: the heel folds down, then springs back up around your heel. To take them off, press the back down with your other foot.

Should I order my usual size?

Most people wear their usual size. If you're between sizes, or your feet swell by afternoon, go up a half size. If your usual shoes feel tight across the ball of the foot, choose Wide or X-Wide rather than a longer size.
