About Wide & Extra-Wide
A shoe that is too narrow squeezes the whole forefoot, and going up a size only makes it longer, not wider. Every Orthofeet style here comes in Medium, Wide and X-Wide, Taos and Naot make wide versions of the styles you see here, and the Aetrex sandals and sneakers have adjustable straps or a roomier fit that Aetrex recommends for wider feet. Choose your width on the product page, and if you are between two, call us and we will talk it through.

Which shoes help with this?
Look for a firm heel counter, real arch support, a cushioned but stable sole and a roomy toe box. The three pairs at the top of this page are the ones Paul starts with. If you are unsure, call us at (704) 846-0301 and we'll help you choose.
Which shoes make it worse?
Flat, flexible shoes with no arch support, worn-out sneakers, flip-flops and high heels usually make foot pain worse. So does walking barefoot on hard floors.
What width should I choose?
If shoes pinch across the widest part of your foot, or you have bunions or swelling, choose Wide. Orthofeet makes most styles in Medium, Wide and X-Wide. Our width guide explains the letters.
Do I need an orthotic too?
Not always. Many of these shoes already have good arch support. An orthotic helps when you want a firmer, measured arch, or want support in shoes you already own. Find the right orthotic in three questions.
